Jailed man charged in murder-for-hire plot

A Southwest suburban man jailed on a murder charge has been accused of plotting to kill a Will County prosecutor.

Brian Trainauskas, who lives in an unincorporated area near Frankfort, was charged Tuesday with solicitation of murder of an assistant state’s attorney assigned to his murder case.

The 36-year-old Trainauskas is charged with first-degree murder and concealing a homicide in Monica Timar’s death. The 36-year-old woman was found dead in January 2009 with a gunshot to the head.

Trainauskas is being held in the Will County jail in lieu of $5 million bond.

Will County state’s attorney’s office spokesman Chuck Pelkie refused to comment on the new case against Trainauskas, but said it’s important to make sure prosecutors are safe and able to perform their duties.

Trainauskas is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on the new charge.
