Elgin nets 1st win

Josue Chavez scored 2 goals and five other Elgin players found the back of the net Monday as the Maroons won their first boys soccer game of the season, downing CICS Northtown 7-1 at the St. Patrick tournament.

Edgar Montes, Sammy Escobar, Oscar Rodriguez, Jorge Delgado and Edwardo Linarez also scored for Elgin (1-2) and Tony Benitez had 6 saves in the net for the Maroons.

Geneva 3, Streamwood 1: Mario Rodriguez scored the Sabres’ lone goal in this Upstate Eight River loss. Jose Resendez had 9 saves in goal for Streamwood (1-3, 0-1).

Prospect 5, South Elgin 2: Vince Szalay and Oscar Mendoza scored goals for South Elgin but the Storm allowed 5 second-half goals in losing this game at the Maine West tournament. Tyler Shilon (3 saves) and Jarod Scheiller (2 saves) split time in goal for South Elgin.
