Grayslake Central starts with victory

Klaudia Basierak had 10 kills, 12 digs and 5 aces, as Grayslake Central’s girls volleyball team opened its season with a 25-8, 25-6 win over Round Lake in nonconference action Monday night.

Gabi Casper added 3 kills and 3 aces for the Rams, while Alexandria Dahlstron delivered 3 blocks and 3 aces. Marina Treato had 10 digs and 3 aces, and Meaghan Brewster set 24 of 24 with 12 assists.

“We got our season off to a good start,” Grayslake Central coach Jason Janczak said. “We had a good night all the way around. We are excited to play Huntley on Thursday.”

CL Central d. Wauconda: The Tigers won 25-19, 25-8, despite 6 kills from Bulldogs setter Megan Tallman. Erinn Hellweg had 4 kills for Wauconda (1-1), while Becca Thiltgen registered 6 digs and Ava Wilhelm served 2 aces.

Stevenson d. Rolling Meadows: Rachel Baader and Liza Pflugradt each had 5 kills, and Mackenzie Kurth delivered 3 aces, as the Patriots won 25-13, 25-8 for their first victory of the season.

Stevenson (1-1) also got 3 kills apiece from Jenna Radtke and Michelle Schroeder, while setters Hannah Kay and Jamie Baranowski (16 of 16, 10 assists) each distributed the ball effectively. Kurth also rang up 16 digs.
