Candidate packets available for primary election

Courtesy petition packets for Lake County established political party candidates for the March 20, 2012, primary election will be available beginning Monday, Aug. 29, through the last day to file, Dec. 5, according to Clerk Willard Helander.

Petition packets will be available at the clerk’s office or online at LakeCandidatePower.info. Circulation of petitions begins Sept. 6 and ends Dec. 5.

Petition packets for Lake County candidates may be filed at the county clerk’s office Nov. 28 to Dec. 5.

The Lake County offices to be nominated at the general primary election include circuit court clerk, coroner, recorder of deeds, state’s attorney, county board members districts 1-21, and North Shore Sanitary trustees districts 1-5. Precinct committeemen for the two major political parties will be elected at the general primary election.

New precinct boundaries lines will be adopted by the Lake County Board members at the Sept. 13 county board meeting. Candidates for precinct committeeman should not circulate petitions before Sept. 13. Candidates for precinct committeeman may contact the clerk’s office at (847) 377-2410 after Sept. 13 to obtain their new precinct number.
