Three people are dead after their car was struck by an SUV while stopped on the middle of the Bishop Ford Expressway.

Illinois State Police say the Chevrolet Cavalier was stopped with its lights off in the center lane of the southbound side of the Bishop Ford Expressway near 130th Street just after 3 a.m. when a Toyota Highlander hit the car.

The Cook County medical examiner's office said two of the people killed were 34-year-old Latoya Williams and her 19-year-old son, Derrick Young. They lived in Chicago. Also killed was 27-year-old Jermaine Garner of Calumet City.

Police say Young was the driver.
