Golf outing to benefit Elgin, S. Elgin Lions clubs

Elgin and South Elgin Lions have teamed up for their first Golf Outing on Friday, Sept. 9 at Hughes Creek in Elburn. All net proceeds of this event will go to funding the many charitable programs of both the Elgin and South Elgin Lions Clubs.

Both Lions Club are a part of Lions Clubs International, which currently has 45,000 clubs in more than 200 countries with more than 1.3 millions members and is the largest service club organization in the world. In 1925, the Lions accepted Helen Keller's challenge to become “Knights of the Blind,” and are known for their work with the blind.

Also, both the Elgin and South Elgin Lions Clubs are also involved in various healths, community, environmental, youth and disaster preparedness and relief programs. Each club consists of a group of service-minded men and women who are interested in improving their communities and share the same core belief world wide - that the community is what we make it. This not only makes each Club successful in meeting the needs of their own community, but also the needs of the entire world.

If you are interested in participating in this golf fundraiser, the cost is $80 per person and includes a cart, lunch and a steak dinner. Lots of prizes and raffles are available throughout the day. Shotgun start is at 9 a.m. and is in a scramble format. Entry Fee is required by Wednesday, Aug. 31.
