Robert Morris falls in first game

Beginning on a winning note appeared to be a realistic possibility for Robert Morris University in the first football game in program history Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles held a 3-point lead going into the fourth quarter but Mayville State rallied for a 21-18 victory in Mayville, N. Dak.

The first touchdown in school history came on a pass from Matt Westerkamp (Montini) to LaMont Wims to put Robert Morris up 7-6 after a quarter. Wims rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown to tie the game at 15-15 and had 68 yards receiving.

Tyler Warden (Glenbard West) caught 5 passes for 69 yards for the Eagles. They will start a three-game homestand against Minnesota State University at noon next Saturday at Morris Field in Arlington Heights.
