Milwaukee to host National Guard conference

MILWAUKEE — Army and Air Guard officers from around the nation are expected in Milwaukee for a National Guard conference.

More than 3,000 Army and Air Guard officers and their guests are attending the 133rd General Conference and Exhibition from Saturday through Monday at the Frontier Airlines Center.

They from all 50 states, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia. They’re expected to set a legislative agenda and elect new members to their board of directors.

Among the speakers are two generals recently confirmed by the Senate for senior leadership positions, the head of the Air Force, the commander overseeing U.S. operations in Libya and the National Guard’s ranking officer.

VISIT Milwaukee estimates the economic impact will be $6.5 million for the area.
