Former Chicago priest sued for sex abuse

A lawsuit has been filed by a Chicago teenager who claims he was a victim of a former Roman Catholic priest.

The lawsuit filed Thursday in Cook County Circuit Court accuses Daniel McCormack, the former priest at St. Agatha Catholic Church, of abusing the boy between 2004 and 2006.

Attorney Jeff Anderson says his client was abused after McCormack was questioned by police and a church review board recommended his removal.

McCormack pleaded guilty in 2007 to abusing five children and served 2 years of a five-year sentence. He remains in a state mental health facility under the Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act.

In an email to the Chicago Tribune, a spokesman said the archdiocese reaches out to all victims of misconduct by clergy.
