Schaumburg teen hit by fleeing SUV

A 17-year-old Schaumburg boy was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver in the village Thursday night.

The teenager was in the middle of the roadway on Springinsguth Road near Syracuse Lane at 10:14 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by a dark-colored, possibly black, SUV traveling south.

Paramedics took him to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where he’s listed in serious but stable condition with injuries to his head, an arm and a leg.

Hospital officials told police that the teen’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the driver of the SUV.

The vehicle was described as a Subaru with Texas license plates with an unknown number.

Based on vehicle parts investigators found at the scene, the SUV is believed to have damage to its left front side, a missing driver’s side mirror and a missing left side mud flap.

Anyone with information regarding the accident, the vehicle or its driver are asked to call Schaumburg police at (847) 882-3534.
