New Italian restaurant coming to Wheeling's Restaurant Row

A new Lettuce Entertain You restaurant is getting ready for a fall opening in Wheeling.

Saranello's, a moderately priced Italian restaurant, will take over the former Osteria di Tramonto space on Milwaukee Avenue, part of the village's famous Restaurant Row.

“It should be a great addition to the area,” said Mark Tormey, the managing partner of the project. “We're looking forward to the opening.”

The restaurant will serve Italian favorites, such as a pizza with a crust somewhere between thin and thick and a homemade ravioli.

“The ravioli is spectacular!” Tormey said.

He described the decor of Saranello's as warm and “somewhat rustic,” with plenty of wood accents. He said the dining and bar areas will be both elegant and comfortable.

Saranello's will open this fall, though an exact date has not yet been set. It will be located in the Westin Chicago North Shore Hotel. Osteria di Tramonto, the restaurant that previously occupied the space, closed in 2009.

Lettuce Entertain You operates dozens of restaurants, including Maggiano's Little Italy, Wildfire and Shaw's Crab House.
