Glenbard West at Wheaton Warrenville South

Nonconference

Game time: 11 a.m. Sunday on ESPN2.

Last year: WW South 40, Glenbard West 20.

Outlook: This rivalry’s burning white hot after last year’s 7A quarterfinal win by WW South and the Tigers’ double-overtime win in the 7A final two years ago. Glenbard West may be bringing its best team of the last few years to Wheaton. Linemen Tommy Schutt, committed to Penn State, Johnny Caspers and Nick Garland complement quarterback Justice Odom and receiver Nathan Marcus. Running backs Joey Zito and Avery Balogh fill the void left by Kendall Johnson, who will miss the season’s first three weeks. WW South’s strength lies on defense with the linebacker tandem of Adam Dansdill and Brandon Peterson. It’ll be critical for the Tigers to sustain drives with running backs Dan Vitale and Patrick Garner.

Next week: Willowbrook at Glenbard West; WW South at Maine South.
