McHenry man charged with assaulting two 17-year-old girls

Bail was set at $75,000 for a 29-year-old McHenry man charged with sexually assaulting two minors after getting them intoxicated, authorities said Thursday.

Daniel R. Holmes, of the 1300 block of Meadow Lane was charged Tuesday with two counts of criminal sexual assault, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a child, McHenry Police said.

Police said Holmes was questioned Tuesday after one of the 17-year-old victims claimed she had been sexually assaulted.

During the course of the investigation, police said a second 17-year-old female came forward, and said she had also been assaulted and abused by Holmes.

Officials arrested Holmes after interviewing him at his house and collecting evidence.

Holmes is a registered sex offender, who before this arrest was registered with the McHenry Police Department.

According to the Illinois Sex Offender website, Holmes was 24 when he was charged with criminal sexual assault using force in Texas.

Holmes was unable to post the $7,500 cash bond he needs to secure his release while the case is pending, and remained in the McHenry County jail Thursday. He is due to appear in court Friday.
