Rolling Meadows fire believed to be accidental
A fire Tuesday morning at a home in Rolling Meadows killed a dog and two cats.
The fire began at 10:03 a.m. at a single-family residence on the 2700 block of Campbell Street, said Pete Till, battalion chief for the Rolling Meadows Fire Department. No people were injured.
Till said the fire caused “pretty severe” damage to the house, with smoke and heat damage throughout and heavy fire damage in the living room, where it began, and the kitchen. The estimated cost of the damage is about $65,000.
The fire took nine minutes to extinguish, Till said. He said as of Tuesday evening it seems like the fire was accidental.
