Lake County property tax due

The second installment of Lake County property taxes is due Tuesday, Sept. 6. A second bill will not be mailed to homeowners. Per Illinois statute, any payment received after the due date must include a 1.5 percent monthly penalty. Payment options include: by mail to 18 N. County St., Waukegan; online by credit card or e-check to www.lakecountyil.gov/treasurer (a processing fee will be charged); or in person at most Lake County banks. Bring an original or copy of the tax bill. Bills also can be paid by check at either drop box, 18 N. County St., Waukegan, or at the Libertyville campus off Winchester Road, a half block west of Milwaukee Avenue. Include the tax bill stub in a sealed envelope.
