Thousands expected to join "The Business Event" in Skokie

Join 100 vendors, 2,500 business networkers, and 30 employers, with a VIP Reception with Lt. Governor Sheila Simon, U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (IL-9), U.S. Rep. Robert Dold (IL-10), Steve Bernas, president of the Better Business Bureau, and David Snyder, publisher of Crain's Chicago Business.

“The Business Event” is expected to draw thousands of attendees, hundreds of exhibitors, and many high profile speakers. Targeted to both small business owners, as well as employment seekers, the event will offer marketing, visibility, and practical education to the small business community in the Chicago area.

“While the Great Recession officially ended in 2009, many families and businesses in our community are still struggling. For small businesses, which make up 98% of Illinois' employers, it is particularly difficult,” said U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), who will be moderating the keynote presentation of the expo.

Also speaking at the event is Steve Bernas, president & CEO of the Better Business Bureau serving Chicago and northern Illinois. Bernas explained that: "Small businesses are the force behind an economic recovery, and their successes depend upon their reputations with consumers for being ethical and trust-worthy businesses to deal with."

The Business Event will be taking place from 1 to 7 p.m. Aug. 25 at The Holiday Inn (5300 W. Touhy Ave.) in Skokie. Registration, exhibitor, and speaker information are available at www.TheBusinessEvent.com
