9-11 Quilt Raffle Supports Hearts of Valor

Do you remember where you were on 9-11 of 2001? It was a day that changed the history of our nation. We will never forget all of those who lost their lives that day, nor the many who have lost or risked their lives over the last ten years to protect our freedoms.

On the tenth anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, Elk Grove Baptist Church is commemorating and honoring all of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. The day-long remembrance will include an outdoor Service of Worship, a picnic on the grounds, games for all ages, face painting and a concert as part of the festivities.(www.9-11remember.com)

Especially notable among the activities will be a Quilt Raffle to raise money for The Heart Of A Marine Foundation.

A beautiful hand-made patriotic quilt, created for this occasion, is called the “Hearts of Valor” and features hearts and stars in patriotic themed fabrics. A banner in the center of the quilt has an Eagle between two American flags. This hand-made keepsake was made by Sam & Billie Zunich and Debbie Castic, and was donated for the raffle. The queen-sized quilt will look beautiful on any bed or is suitable for a hanging display.

Raffle tickets can be purchased online or at the church for $5.00 for a single chance or 5 chances for $20.00. The drawing will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the 9-11 Commemoration. Winners need not be present.

All funds raised will go to The Heart Of A Marine Foundation.

The foundation was started to honor Lance Corporal Philip E. Frank, an Elk Grove Village native, who gave his life for his country on April 8, 2004. You can read about Phillip's story at www.heartofamarine.org.
