Get up close to history at Viking Visitor’s Day in Geneva

Submitted by Friends of the Viking Ship

The public is invited to view the Viking Ship from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition at its permanent location in Good Templar Park in Geneva from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20. It’s Illinois’ largest remaining artifact from the Columbian Exposition. Good Templar Park is at 528 East Side Drive, Geneva.

During Viking Visitor’s Day, Friends of the Viking Ship will describe the ship’s amazing voyage from Bergen, Norway, to the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition and its subsequent adventures. You’ll see the stabilization work that has been done and walk up the ramp to view the inside of the ship.

The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for visitors ages 13 to 19, and $1 for children ages 5 to 12. Friends of the Viking Ship also will accept donations to benefit the urgent rivet repair program. For more information, visit vikingship.us.
