AU to offer Basic Skills Test review sessions

Aurora University will host four review sessions to help students prepare for the Illinois State Board of Education Basic Skills Test.

Education and social work majors who plan to work in public school systems are required to pass the five-hour Basic Skills Test to be certified.

The public is invited to the series sponsored by the AU College of Education. Admission is free to AU students, current applicants and alumni; $75 for others.

The review schedule is:

타 Tuesday, Aug. 23, from 4 to 6 p.m.: Reading comprehension will be reviewed in Room 201 in Dunham Hall, 1400 Marseillaise Place.

타 Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 4 to 7 p.m.: Language arts will be reviewed in Room 201 in Dunham Hall, 1400 Marseillaise Place.

타 Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m.: Writing will be reviewed in Room 124 in the Institute for Collaboration, 407 S. Calumet Ave.

타 Wednesday, Sept. 1, from 4 to 6 p.m.: Math I: geometry, statistics, graphing, combined skills, and Math II: word problems, proportions, pre-algebra skills, algebra and logic will be reviewed in Room 312 in the Institute for Collaboration, 407 S. Calumet Ave.

Reviews include instruction, practice problems and handout materials.

Workshop attendees are requested to bring the online Basic Skills Test study guide, available on the Illinois Certification Testing System website at www.icts.nesinc.com. Also available on the ICTS website are study guides for other tests administered through ICTS and a practice test to prepare for the Basic Skills test.
