Cary Lions make soccer easier for hearing-impaired

Submitted by Cary Lions

The Cary Lions Club donated $1,000 to the Cary Soccer Association for assistance in obtaining sign interpreters for hearing-impaired children who require sign language to participate in soccer.

Caulbert Smith, assistant coaching director with the Cary Soccer Association, received the donation on behalf of the CSA, stating that their organization attempts to use volunteer interpreters whenever available but this donation was appreciated.

It will provide for paid interpreters when a volunteer interpreter is not available, thereby keeping the hearing-impaired children active in the program.

Andrew Wisniewski, a hearing-impaired participant in the soccer program, expressed his excitement with a big smile and signing “thank you” to the Lions Club members.
