Antioch unveils new logo, tagline

“Antioch — Authentic by Nature.”

That statement, and the name “Antioch” featuring a leaf where the “o” would be, will start appearing on village online websites, newsletters, and stationary as a way to capture a more hometown feel in the northern Lake County town, officials said.

Dustin Nilsen, head of the village’s economic development department, said the village has recently gone through a process to develop the new logo and tag line to better explain who and what Antioch is.

Nielsen said the new logo and tagline will begin appearing on village websites first, followed by newsletters, stationery, and other media.

“We went through a process that identified some of the brand characteristics for the village,” he said. “We asked ourselves what we wanted to attract, what we wanted to represent.”

While a big part of the village is the Chain O’ Lakes, he said, the focus groups felt there was more to the village than just the Chain.

So, the planning groups steered away from focusing solely on the Chain and, instead, focused on the feel of the village.

“The staff and our marketing consultant held some work shops to really test what we wanted it to be,” Nilsen said. “We didn’t want to deny the Chain O’ Lakes and what it means to Antioch — it’s a huge amenity and incredible asset — so we wanted to incorporate it, but not just make it about that.”

It’s unclear when the logo and tagline would be on the village’s website, but Nilsen said it would be incorporated in rather short time because the cost to change online media is minimal.

From there, the logo would start to appear more and more, depending on the financial resources available.
