New dance class for jr. high students at Stevenson

Junior high school students who plan to pursue dance classes at Stevenson High School can prepare by enrolling in a new evening course offered by the Patriot Recreation and Education Program (PREP).

The Dance Technique class is open to students in sixth to eighth grade, and will run on Wednesdays from Sept. 7 through Nov. 16. (There is no class on Sept. 28.)

The class meets from 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the school's dance studios, by parking lot E. The cost is $105, although families that sign up for two or more PREP classes at one time receive a 10 percent discount.

The Dance Technique class will explore various dance styles, including modern, jazz and ballet, while including improvisation and composition.

Students should wear fitted clothing; the following are recommended: a leotard or fitted tank top or T-shirt; tights, shorts or jazz pants; and ballet or jazz shows.
