Record effort from Prospect girls

Prospect enjoyed its finest round in girls golf history when it defeated visiting Loyola 308-317 at the Mt. Prospect Golf Course on Tuesday.

Leading the charge for the Knights’ record-setting performance (formerly 314 set in 2006 and 2007) was senior Christine Garmoe (74), who also made it into the school record books.

Garmoe’s 34 on the front nine tied her for the school’s nine-hole record with current teammate Allison Walsh and Anne Senn.

Garmoe’s big front nine included birdies on holes No. 5, 7 and 8.

Senior Allison Walsh recorded Prospect’s next best score on Tuesday with a 75, followed by sophomore Kiley Walsh (76) and junior Noelle Johnston (83).

Prospect’s dual-meet record improved to 91-10 in its seven years under coach Jim Hamann.

The Knights swing back into action today when they host their own six-team invite.

Stevenson 174, Buffalo Grove 187: Junior Grace Kil recorded a personal best 2-under par 34, tying her own Buffalo Grove school record in the nonconference dual meet at Twin Orchard in Long Grove.

Next in line for the Bison were Amber Guiao (48), Colleen Zickert (51) and Courtney Meyer (54).

Defending state champion Stephanie Miller, a junior, shot a 39 for the Patriots.

Barrington Invite: Highland Park scored an impressive 296 to win at Bonnie Dundee Golf Club in Carpentersville while the host Fillies earned second place with a 333.

Leading the way for the Fillies were freshman Julia Calbi (75) and sophomore Heather Ciskowski (78).

Waubonsie Valley’s Bing Singhsumalee earned medalist honors with a 69 on the par-72 course.
