Police investigating Elk Grove crash that injured three

Elk Grove Village police continue to investigate the cause of a single-vehicle crash early Friday in which a 21-year-old driver and two teenage passengers were injured after their vehicle struck a tree.

The driver’s 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling southeast in the 800 block Victoria about 4:40 a.m. when the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree, traffic Sgt. Matt Fiorito said. The driver and two 18-year-old passengers, all three from Elk Grove Village, sustained nonlife threatening injuries, but had to be extricated by firefighters from the vehicle, Fiorito said.

They were taken to area hospitals where they since have been treated and released. Fiorito said no charges have been filed at this time. It is unclear whether alcohol, drugs or speed were a factor in the crash, police said.
