Woodlands Academy celebrates commencement

Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart in Lake Forest graduated its senior class recently in the Woodlands Academy Chapel.

The 152nd commencement took place during a Graduation Liturgy celebrated by The Rev. Richard Jakubik of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Wilmette with assistance from Deacon Joseph Krakora of Church of St. Mary in Lake Forest.

English Department faculty Erin Brysiewicz of Chicago gave the Call to Worship, and senior Katherine Flint of Lake Forest presented the Senior Reflection.

Woodlands’ Liturgical Choir and award-winning select choral ensemble, “Kaleidoscope,” provided the music for the liturgy under the direction of Elizabeth Kurowski of Mundelein.

With eight Illinois State Scholars, the Woodlands Academy Class of 2010 was represented by 31 young women who will distinguish themselves this fall at their respective colleges and universities.

The graduating class includes: Lisa Ann Borosh, Gina Marie Carfagno, Charlotte Genevieve Elwart, Katherine Marissa Flint, Kelsey Farish Key, Leann Labrecque Lyden, Maryl Millenbach Montagne, Christina A. Osorio, and Riley Elizabeth Parrott of Lake Forest; Allyson Elise Genger, Anne Goodman, Hannah Elaine Stevens, and Christine Lee Swinson of Lake Bluff; Kaitlin Celia Donnelly, Blair Elizabeth O’Neill, Hannah Adelaide Wilson, and Margaret Hodge Young of Winnetka; Alexandra Monic Chapa, Chelsea Irva Fuente, and Stephanye Xareni Vela of Waukegan; Alexis Michael Good of Westville; Lauren Anne Hermsen of Gurnee; Katya Nicole Martinovich; Martha Guadalupe Monterroso of Highwood; Samantha Ann Rabkin of Antioch; Sara Frances Reyes of Kenilworth; Min Hee Kim, Minjoo Lee, and Soyeong Park of South Korea; and Dan Zhang and Shihua Zhou of the People’s Republic of China.

Immediately following the graduation ceremony, the Class of 2011 gathered with their parents, family, friends, and teachers for a reception in the student dining room.
