‘Taste of Florida Keys’ at Elk Grove library

The sights and flavors of the Florida Keys will be highlighted in “A Taste of the Florida Keys” from 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 15, at the Elk Grove Public Library, 1001 Wellington Ave., Elk Grove Village.

This colorful slide show will be presented by travelers Susan Miura and Patt Nicholls, who will begin with Key Largo and culminate with Key West and the Dry Tortugas.

Audience members will learn about island life, U.S. style. Highlights include John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, The Turtle Hospital, Hemmingway’s House, beaches, diving and snorkeling, festivals, the Key West sunset celebration, The Dry Tortugas and more.

Discussion of foods will include island favorites like key lime pie, grouper, Cuban sandwiches and conch fritters. Samples of Florida Keys foods will be served.
