Island Lake carnival opens Friday:

Island Lake will host a Lakefest carnival this weekend at Water Tower Park, which is on Route 176 at Newport Drive. A carnival and three musical performances are scheduled. A group called Bounty Hunter Five will perform at 8 p.m. Friday; the Villareal Kid will perform at 5:30 p.m. Saturday; and Rampage will play at 8 p.m. Saturday. The carnival will be open from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday, from noon to midnight Saturday and from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Proceeds from the carnival will help pay for a Sept. 17 fireworks show.
