Two Wheaton teens jailed on burglary charges

Two Wheaton teens charged with burglary were being held Tuesday in DuPage County jail on $100,000 bails.

Jatez D. Billips, 19, and Victoria A. Covington, 18, are accused of burglarizing the home of one of Billips’s neighbors on the 1300 block of Woodcutter Lane.

Police said Billips was arrested Thursday afternoon as he left the scene of the burglary. Several items of stolen property were recovered, according to a news release.

Covington, of the 1100 block of Bunker Hill Court, was arrested Monday on a warrant, according to court records. Police said she had been “working with” Billips.

Both suspects remained in the county jail Tuesday and would need to post $10,000 each to bond out. They are charged with residential burglary, a felony.

Deputy Wheaton Police Chief Tom Meloni said in a statement that additional details would not be released.
