40-plus courses available to Stevenson Dist. 125 residents

More than 40 adult and youth education classes for the District 125 community will be available this fall and winter through Stevenson High School's Patriot Recreation Education Program (PREP).

Information about courses and camps can be found online through the PREP website at www.d125.org/prep. PREP course brochures have been mailed to the community, and also are available at the high school and at the Vernon Area and Ela Township libraries.

A wide range of interests are covered by the latest PREP offerings, ranging from cooking to computers, and from learning a new language to changing the oil in your car. There also are learn-to-swim classes for children ages 3 and older. PREP is offering a 10% discount to anyone who signs up for two or more classes or camps at the same time.

PREP was created to expand community use of Stevenson High School facilities at no cost to District 125 taxpayers. Administrative costs (including use of space), staff salaries, equipment, etc., are included in the fee assessed to those signing up for PREP classes and camps.

District 125 residents who are age 60 and older can apply for a Gold Card that allows them to register for some PREP classes at half of the regular price. The Gold Card also provides free admission to Stevenson home athletic contests and fine arts performances (excluding IHSA tournaments and Stevenson Foundation events).

To register for a Gold Card, district residents 60 and older must apply in person at the PREP Office, located in Room 3044 near parking lot B. The office is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For more information on PREP, call 847-415-4145 or visit its website at www.d125.org/prep.
