Investigate water life with Citizens for Conservation

Registration is due Saturday, Aug. 13, for the Citizens for Conservation class “Up a Creek with CFC,” which will be from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20.

The event, a Leave No Child Inside class, is an afternoon with seining expert Tom Vanderpoel.

Meet at CFC headquarters, 459 W. Route 22 in Lake Barrington, the white farmhouse with a silo across from Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. The group will drive to a local site and use seining nets to see what is in the water.

Dress for the weather. Water shoes/sandals/boots or shoes are required. Apply sun block or insect spray at home; bring your own drinking water.

Class is open to children ages 6 and older and their caregivers. Cost is $5 per child; but families with multiple children pay $5 for the first child and $1 for each additional child. Make checks payable to Citizens for Conservation.

Forms are online at www.citizensforconservation.org. For details, call (847) 382-7283.
