Smoking pot while driving nets probation sentence

A Rolling Meadows man charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance was sentenced to 24 months probation in exchange for his guilty plea.

Bogdan Filip, 25, was arrested last month in the area of Roselle Road and Hillcrest Drive after Schaumburg police received a call reporting someone driving a car while smoking cannabis, prosecutors said during Filip’s bond hearing.

A Cook County judge also ordered Filip submit to random drug tests and perform 30 hours of community service.
