Debt ceiling debate nothing but a ploy

I hate to blow the cover of those federal politicians. Well, actually I guess I really don’t because they are such deceivers, all of them, but this business about the U.S. debt ceiling, about defaults and the great world calamity that could have occurred after Tuesday’s deadline, is such a fraud. The debt ceiling limitation is a ploy enacted by Congress itself, dusted off during pre-election cycles in an attempt to enact legislation and federal law changes that without a big lie like this would never be considered. With the false threat of economic catastrophe foisted upon us, an imaginary pressure is created to “get something done” before the sky falls.

Don’t make any mistake about it. America will pay its debts. We will pay our debts. We may be late, but our bills will be paid. We know this, and the world knows it also. This is America, not Greece, with no slight intended to the struggling people there. China and the rest of Asia own most of our debt, With restraint and patience they know they will always get paid and with interest. I guess we could always sell them the Grand Canyon or Mount Hood but those things are pretty hard to move.

Always remember this is the nation that began World War II tottering on the edge of bankruptcy, with its warriors training with broomsticks, with barely a plane that would fly, and a severely crippled Pacific fleet, but always with a spirit of confidence and patriotic fervor unmatched anywhere in the pages of world history. Don’t ever sell America short! Peddle that snake oil somewhere else.
