AP source: Saints sign ex-Bear Olin Kreutz

METAIRIE, La. — A person familiar with the deal says former Chicago center Olin Kreutz has agreed to contract terms with New Orleans.

The person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Saints have not announced the deal, did not provide contract terms.

The move gives the Saints a veteran center following the departure of three-year starter Jonathan Goodwin, who agreed this week to a free-agent deal with San Francisco.

The 34-year-old Kreutz is a six-time Pro Bowl player entering his 14th NFL season. He has been with the Bears since entering the league in 1998 and has started since 1999.

Kreutz is expected to compete for the starting job with Matt Tennant, who the Saints drafted in the fifth round last year.
