Kane & DuPage Junior League seeks members

;www.jlkd.orgIn its 16th year, the Junior League of Kane and DuPage Counties ;http://www.jlkd.orgis an organization of women committed to helping at-risk children within DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will counties.

Using its popular “Story Wizards” project, the league’s trained volunteers involve children in read-alouds and literacy activities, providing positive influences that children need to become future readers and leaders.

“JLKD members strive to help at-risk children develop a lifelong love of reading through our mission-driven initiatives,” President Christina Brady said. “JLKD is an ideal volunteer organization for local women because we help impact our community in a positive way, provide training to our members to allow them to expand their personal growth and build leadership skills, and offer the opportunity for them to connect with like-minded women at our social events.”

The league also offers Done-in-a-Day projects to benefit local community partners such as Mutual Ground, Mooseheart Child City and School, United Way DuPage/West Cook, and the West Suburban Community Pantry, among others.

The organization combats childhood obesity through its Kids in the Kitchen initiatives and advocates on issues affecting members and the community.
