One injured in knife fight at Arlington Heights bank

One person was injured and a second is in custody following what appears to be a knife fight at Village Bank and Trust in Arlington Heights, officials said.

Sgt. Mike Kearney of the Arlington Heights Police Department said two people were fighting in the basement of the bank in the 300 block of South Arlington Heights Road when a knife was pulled out and one person was cut at about 8:30 a.m.

He could not go into details regarding the fight, and would not speculate what the fight was regarding.

He said the person cut was transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, while the second person is in custody and at the Arlington Heights police station.

He would not say what charges are expected following the incident. All names are being withheld until after charges are filed, he said.

He said the investigation continues and that additional information should be released early this afternoon.
