Links Technology Cup features Taste on the Tee

It’s golf with a definite nosh component — and no one goes home hungry.

Taste on the Tee is a unique feature of the annual Links Technology Cup golf outing Wednesday, Aug. 10, at the Schaumburg Golf Club. An every-other-hole food and beverage experience, Taste is anchored by John Barleycorn, which hosts a post-event barbecue with all the fixings.

Returning restaurant favorites include Chandler’s Chophouse, Jeff Can Cook? Catering, John Barleycorn, Sam and Harry’s, Whole Foods Market, Riccardo’s Ristorante, Southern Wine and Spirits, Moretti’s Ristorante and Pizzeria, and Village Tavern. Newcomers include Moe’s Southwest, Ram Restaurant and Brewery, Drink, Jason’s Deli and The Lucky Monk. Pepsi will provide water and other soft drinks throughout the day.

The outing benefits the Schaumburg Park Foundation’s campaign to renovate the museum at Spring Valley Nature Center.

“The food gets more creative each year,” said Pat Casler, foundation executive vice president. “Novel menu items this year include brisket sliders, herb focaccia deli sandwiches and caprese salad skewers.”

The event begins with check-in at 9:30 a.m. It’s a steal of a deal at $150 per golfer that includes practice range warm-up, 11 a.m. shotgun start, 18 holes with cart in a scramble format, contests, prizes and delicious food. Other features include the Daily Herald Closest-to-the-Pin Shootout and Woodfield Putt-of-the-Day contests; and the competition for the coveted Links Cup to the top foursome.

Registration is available at the Schaumburg Golf Club, 401 N. Roselle Road; online at parkfun.com; or by phone, (847) 985-2115.
