Chicago boy, 13, killed playing basketball

Police in Chicago are investigating the death of a 13-year-old boy who gunned down while playing basketball at a park on the city's South Side.

Authorities say Darius Brown was playing in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood Wednesday evening when someone in a passing car opened fire on the park. None of the other children at the park were injured.

Brown was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, and the Cook County medical examiner's office says he later died.

Brown's family members say the teen was about to go into eighth grade at Holy Angels Elementary School.

Police say investigators don't believe he was the target of the shooting.

No arrests have been made.
