Search for man in Woodridge pond resumes

The search for a 25-year-old man from Bolingbrook who disappeared in a Woodridge retention pond after his canoe tipped over is expected to resume this morning.

Jeremy Asbell disappeared at about 2 a.m. in the retention pond near Woodward Avenue and Frontage Road.

Asbell and another man were canoeing in the pond when the boat capsized. The unidentified man swam to shore, but its assumed Asbell disappeared under the water.

Authorities said the search was called off early this morning because of darkness. Also, authorities said, the pond was filled with weeds, making the search difficult.

The search was scheduled to resume at 7 a.m.
