Submitted by St. Margaret Mary Knights of Columbus

One of the Fox Valley’s premier annual golf events, the 2011 Hammer Open Charity Classic will be on Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Golf Club of Illinois, 575 Edgewood Drive in Algonquin. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m.

Join them for a fun-filled day of golf, food, beverages, contests, raffles and more in the name of charity. Since 2000, through the support of sponsors and players, the Hammer Open has raised more than $120,000 for the American Cancer Society, Rett Syndrome Association of Illinois, United Cerebral Palsy and the Foundation Fighting Blindness.

Hosted by the St. Margaret Mary Knights of Columbus, the cost is $125 per player for golf with a cart and includes dinner and a chance at prizes. The Hammer Open is played in a four-man scramble format and will have contests for Hole-in-One, Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, and Longest Putt. Also, after dinner, there will be awards presented, raffles and more.
