St. Charles sisters selected for state soccer team

Local soccer players Nicole and Samantha Lombardo participated in tryouts and training sessions for months under the eyes of coaches from around the state as part of the Illinois Olympic Development Program.

At the state level, the sisters were selected to represent the Illinois ODP team and participated in competition against other state teams.

During these sessions, the ODP coaching staff got a chance to gain a broader picture of what each player has to offer. Based on their performance, the sisters were invited to attend the Illinois ODP State Combine. They were selected to play matches for the Illinois team against some of the top teams at the ODP Regional Camp.

The girls’ selection was their second to the Illinois team. The sisters just finished their freshman season at St. Charles East High School and play club soccer for Strikers Fox Valley in Geneva.
