Brainerd festival seeks volunteers

The second North Shore Wine, Beer, Cigar and Food Festival is set for 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Libertyville High School’s old Brainerd building, at Route 176 and Brainerd Avenue.

The event is the major fundraiser for Save Brainerd, an organization dedicated to restoring the old high school building into a community center for the Libertyville area. Last year’s event was considered successful by organizers.

Visitors can enjoy an afternoon and evening of wine and beer sampling, cigar sampling, food tasting and music.

Those who volunteer to set up and take down will receive a free festival ticket ($35 value) and a classy T-shirt that’ll set you apart from the hoi polloi, organizers said. Jobs will run the gamut from very physical to strictly organizational. Workers also will be needed on the previous Wednesday for setup on the grounds, and again on Sunday morning following the festival, for cleanup.
