Des Plaines man gets 30 months probation for meth lab

A Des Plaines man who police say manufactured methamphetamine in his basement has been sentenced to 30 months probation and ordered to comply with any treatment recommendations following a drug abuse evaluation.

Matthew A. Weber-Mixon, 26, was charged with operating a meth lab after police discovered what they described as “suspicious items” at his home during an investigation they conducted earlier this year.

Des Plaines police and firefighters dressed in hazardous materials suits when they collected items from the home in the 300 block of Oxford Road. Authorities later indicated the materials did not pose an immediate threat to neighbors. A Skokie judge also ordered Weber-Mixon to pay $1,795 in fines.
