Schaumburg seeking 2011 Miss Septemberfest

Applications for Schaumburg’s Miss Septemberfest 2011 scholarship pageant are due back to the Prairie Center for the Arts by Friday, Aug. 5. Applications can be picked up at the Prairie Center at 201 Schaumburg Court or downloaded from the Septemberfest website at septemberfest.org. Interviews will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13. Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 19, residents of Schaumburg and never have been married. The competition seeks applicants that are involved in Schaumburg through volunteerism and extracurricular activities and would like the opportunity to further give back to their community. Four court members and one Miss Septemberfest will be selected. All winners receive a savings bond from the village and scholarship money from the Sons and Daughters of Italy and the Schaumburg/Hoffman Rotary Club. Winners also participate in all Septemberfest Labor Day activities including the parade, ribbon cuttings and main stage introductions for the entertainment.
