Schaumburg celebrates National Night Out Tuesday

The Village of Schaumburg is participating Tuesday, Aug. 2, in National Night Out, a program whose goal is to strengthen ties among neighbors, and to develop a partnership between the community and police department to work together against crime. Last year, the village held 28 different neighborhood-based events. Schaumburg elected officials, police command and patrol officers, and firefighters will be visiting National Night Out block parties throughout the village. Participants may receive a visit from a police motorcycle officer, police mountain bike officer, a crash test dummy, McGruff the Crime Fighting Dog, or a Schaumburg fire truck. The Schaumburg Senior Barn, (847) 524-7496, will be hosting an event for Schaumburg area seniors. The Schaumburg Park District will be hosting a block party at Meineke Park, (847) 985-2143, open to all Schaumburg residents. For information on National Night Out, contact Crime Prevention Specialist Paula Diaz at (847) 348-7274 or via email at pdiaz@ci.schaumburg.il.us.
