Illinois worker dies at W. Virginia coal plant

A worker has died in an accident at a coal processing plant in southern West Virginia.

The state Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training says the accident occurred at 8:44 p.m. Wednesday at the Superior Processing Plant in Maitland.

The office says the 39-year-old man was an employee of Marion, Ill.-based Mike Dover Corporation, an independent contractor.

Details of the accident weren’t immediately available.

The state office is investigating the accident.
