Des Plaines observes National Night Out

The Des Plaines Police Department will host an open house from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday for National Night Out at the police station, 1418 Miner St. The event will include a display of police vehicles, presentations, and tours of the police station. A variety of educational/safety materials will be available. “National Night Out was initiated as a means of heightening crime and drug prevention awareness and support,” said officer Colin Johnson, who is spearheading National Night Out efforts. “On a local level we are hoping to create neighborhood spirit and form partnerships between the community and the police department.” Food items from the Des Plaines Choo Choo and Roselli’s Pizza will be available.
