Car burglary suspects arrested in Vernon Hills

Four people have been charged after police on a sting operation targeting car burglaries in Vernon Hills spotted their vehicle, which was linked to a previous car burglary.

A Vernon Hills officer spotted their vehicle, which had been caught on surveillance camera, in the Central Lake YMCA parking lot about 8:30 Tuesday morning, according to police.

During the stop he found that all four occupants of the vehicle also matched descriptions given to police from an earlier car burglary.

The vehicle contained purses stolen from break-ins in Gurnee as well as items purchased in Round Lake Beach with stolen credit cards, according to police.

Jeremy Gilliam, 23, of Waukegan, Helen Brylinke, 36, of North Chicago, Charles Keys, 33 of North Chicago, and Quinton Sawyers, 23, of Waukegan were all charged with unlawful use of a credit card. Gilliam and Brylinke were also charged with burglary to a motor vehicle.

Gurnee and Round Lake Beach police have further charges pending against all four suspects, while Waukegan police are looking into charges against Gilliam, Brylinke and Sawyer.
