McHenry man gets jail, probation for soliciting girl

A McHenry man was sentenced to 160 days in jail Monday after he admitted soliciting a sex act from a 7-year-old girl.

Kevin Hilderbrandt, 40, pleaded guilty to indecent solicitation of a child during a hearing before Lake County Circuit Judge Fred Foreman.

Assistant State’s Attorney Ari Fisz said Hilderbrandt, of the 23000 block of Valley Road, was baby-sitting for the girl in her home in Round Lake on April 13.

During the time he was at the girl’s house, Hilderbrandt exposed himself to the girl and asked her to perform a sex act.

The girl told her father when he came home, Fisz said, and the father called Lake County sheriff’s police.

Hilderbrandt was arrested April 15 after he admitted what he had done during an interview with a detective.

In addition to the jail sentence, Foreman placed Hilderbrandt on probation for 18 months and ordered him to perform 200 hours of public service.

Fisz said Hilderbrandt could have faced up to five years in prison if he had been convicted after a trial.

Hilderbrandt will also have to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years as a result of his conviction.
