Mundelein man dies in motorcycle crash

A 26-year-old Mundelein man died Sunday night after crashing his motorcycle at a high rate of speed in Vernon Hills.

David E. Field of Mundelein was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred on Route 60 just before 8 p.m. Sunday, said Vernon Hills Police officer Ward Feger.

Multiple witnesses told police Field was traveling east on Route 60 at a high rate of speed when he struck a westbound vehicle that was making a left turn onto Aspen Drive, Feger said.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance team continued their investigation into the crash on Monday, but police said no citations had been issued.
