Irish dancers medal at championships

Moira Kramp and Sydney Niewiedzial of Chicago’s Trinity Academy of Irish Dance took silver medals at the North American Irish Dancing Championships, held July 2-6 in Nashville, Tenn.

Kramp, 13, an Arlington Heights resident, took silver out of 96 competitors. Kramp is a current world champion in team dancing and also the current regional champion in solo dancing.

Academy director and teacher, Natalie Howard, states, “Moira has a very healthy competitive attitude that drives her success. She’s a very hard worker, who practices every day and she really knows how to keep an even keel when under pressure. She deserves every ounce of success she gets.”

Niewiedzial, 9, a Hoffman Estates resident, took silver out of 137 competitors. Niewiedzial is a former regional champion, who took the sixth place spot at last year’s national championships.

Howard adds, “Every time I give direction, Sydney is the first to respond. She’s incredibly smart and responds very well to coaching. She will continue to find much success in competitive dancing and in life.”

Trinity’s solo program has been in the spotlight recently since Peter Dziak of Villa Park captured Trinity’s first solo gold medal at the World Irish Dancing Championships in Dublin, Ireland, in April.

Other achievements of area dancers include: Claire Froman of Lake Barrington, who took 18th place out of 78 competitors; Samantha Ryzner of Mount Prospect took 21st place out of 137 competitors; Anna Gorman of Arlington Heights took 29th place out of 78 competitors; and Rachel Scott of Mount Prospect, who took 51st place out of 113 competitors.

The dancers train at Trinity’s Palatine location. For information, call (773);trinityirishdancers.com 529-4822 or visit trinityirishdancers.com;http://trinityirishdancers.com/ or facebook.com/trinityirishdancers.
